Though a Jeep® SUV leans heavily into “utility,” there’s also an art to their design. Several contain unique flourishes the Jeep community knows as “Easter eggs,” and when you visit Fresno Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM for a test drive, we’ll show you where to find some. While the list below has three of our favorites, there are plenty we don’t want to give away; after all, part of the fun is still finding little surprises years into your ownership journey.
Easter eggs are hidden features. The phenomenon isn’t unique to Jeep vehicles, but the brand raises them to an art form with nods to the brand’s history, aesthetic flourishes, or inside jokes from the manufacturing plant. Some Easter eggs occur across multiple models, while others are model-exclusive.
The roofs or taillights of some models display an X-shaped marking, which mimics the gas can found on the original WWII-era Willys Jeep. Some models have side rails with the phrase “No Step” printed on them, reminiscent of military aircraft.
Some Jeep models place a 3D gecko near the windshield wipers or an imprint of the Loch Ness monster at the base of the windshield. The Jeep Wrangler has a decal of the 1941 Willys Jeep driving up a hill, a spider saying “ciao” hides inside the gas cap cover of the Jeep Renegade, and the Jeep Gladiator pays tribute to automotive journalist Rick Pawe by stamping a flip-flop into one of its hood cowls.
Morse code, manifested as dots and dashes stamped into your Jeep vehicle, will differ with each model. However, the phrase “sand, snow, river, and rocks” is the most common, often located on the left footrest near the brake pedal.
